Other Feathered Friends

Turkeys

Turkeys

Turkeys

These turkeys were being raised on a local homestead and had been living there for around 5 years. The location that they were at had become unsafe, and these sweet turkeys were at risk of being attacked by predators, so we brought them to our sanctuary where they will be able to live out their entire lives without risk of being killed.

Stevie

Turkeys

Turkeys

Stevie was born blind and with an angel wing on a local farm. Similarly to our turkeys, the farm that he came from was not outfitted properly to protect him from predators. His mother rejected him, so he was at high risk in the environment that he was in. We took him in and took him to UT to try to treat the angel wing, but nothing was working. Fortunately, the only consequences of this injury are that he is unable to breed, and unable to fly, which actually works out perfectly for us in our sanctuary setting. HIs previous family still keeps in touch to check on him.

Nikki

Newman

Newman

Nikki was surrendered by a local, who did not have the resources to care for this sweet girl. We took her in, and she is now a faithful companion to Stevie. Any time that you see her, she is probably either following you around the Sanctuary to keep you in line, or Honking (yelling) at you to tell you to "keep your distance from Stevie!"

Newman

Newman came to us through the man who does all the building for our Sanctuary. He said that a friend's flock of guineas was attacked, and only two of the flock were left. Those two guineas were Newman and Kramer. Unfortunately, we lost Kramer shortly after their arrival. Newman, however, is thriving on the property today, and alongside his best friend, Zuko, he is able to serve as a "watchdog" for our Sanctuary, sounding off a loud alarm any time that something seems to be going on. Even if that just means a car is pulling out of the driveway, haha!
